Running smart editor with mvn jetty:run

Daniel Nüst
Hello!

I just checked out the smart editor trunk and tried to run the webapp
with mvn jetty:run (after fixing the resource setup, see suggestion here
[1]), but have some troubles with the resource filtering since the
database password does not end up everywhere where it is supposed to be.

Looking into the target folder, the password placeholder
db.jdbc.password is NOT replaced in the files context.xml,
dao-definitions.xml or jetty-env.xml.

Before going into details (and I haven't followed every path yet):
Should jetty:run work with the current version?

Also, is there any documentation on how to check out and use a
development version of smart editor using either NetBeans (which I don't
know but might have to use) or Eclipse (which I would like to use but I
know the main developers are not).

A section from the log output:

Re: Running smart editor with mvn jetty:run

Kristian Senkler
Hi Daniel,

jetty should work fine, but I have to admit that it has not been tested very well in the latest release. Might be broken, I will check this.

And it exists no explicit documentation on how to use smartEditor with either eclipse or NetBeans. smartEditor is totally Maven based so if your preferred IDE can deal with that it should be no problem to set up the development version.

Kind regards,
Kristian

I managed to get the webapp running (well, the JDBC settings are not
properly propagated yet, but that's a seperate thread) with Netbeans,
partly based on the installation guide.

I noticed there is no Metadata Community Wiki yet. Do you think it would
be worthwile to create it and add documentation about checking out a
development version (e.g. using Netbeans or Eclipse)?

Regards,
Dainel
