org.hibernate.MappingException: Dialect does not support sequences

ikatinass
Hello,

I am trying to run ServiceEditor with

-SQL server 2008 R2
-Apache Tomcat 6

After configuration I received an error:
org.hibernate.MappingException: Dialect does not support sequences
...smarteditor-webapp.log

I noticed that in the installation guide you don't provide SQLserver's default value to db.hibernate.dialect, but since I use SQLserver I used the following command:
db.hibernate.dialect=org.hibernate.dialect.SQLServerDialect
application.properties

Don't know if it is relevant by I didn't used Container managed database connections - JNDI configuration, Instead I configured a connection to the database in the smartEditor.xml
smartEditor.xml

I included log file, application.properties and smartEditor.xml with this post.
Can someone help me with this problem please?

Sincerely,
Irmantas

Hi Irmantas,

sure it is. However I was on a business travel until now. I'll check the problem and will get back to you soon.

Sorry for the delay,
Kristian

Hi Irmantas,

first, I recommend to use one of the latest smartEditor versions. These version is not yet advertised on the 52north page, but are fully functional:

http://52north.org/maven/repo/releases/org/n52/metadata/smarteditor-webapp/1.3.7/smarteditor-webapp-1.3.7.war
or
http://52north.org/maven/repo/releases/org/n52/metadata/smarteditor-webapp/2.0.2/smarteditor-webapp-2.0.2.war

The 2.x version provides a more AJAX based GUI, so maybe you'll give it a try. Both version will be available via the 52n web page soon.

Anyway, in either version, if you look at dao-definitions.xml file, you'll find the following section:

<bean id="smartEditorSessionFactory" class="org.springframework.orm.hibernate3.LocalSessionFactoryBean">
        ....
        <property name="mappingLocations">
            <list>
                <value>classpath:/de/conterra/smarteditor/admin/pojo/Templates.hbm.xml</value>
                <value>classpath:/de/conterra/smarteditor/admin/pojo/Locking.hbm.xml</value>
                <!--
                Uncomment this line if smartEditor is running with MS SQL Server
                (and remove the line above accordingly)
                <value>classpath:/de/conterra/smarteditor/admin/pojo/Locking.SqlServer.hbm.xml</value>
                -->
            </list>
        </property>
        ....
    </bean>

As you can see, an additional hbm file is provided for the MS SQLServer case. Uncomment the section accordingly and you should be fine.

All the best,
Kristian

This post was updated on .
Hello Kristian

So as you recomended, I am trying to deploy smarteditor-gpt-webapp-2.0.2.war following -  52n smarteditor 1.1 installation guide.pdf
Additionally I uncommented <value>classpath:/de/conterra/smarteditor/admin/pojo/Locking.SqlServer.hbm.xml</value>
 in dao-definitions.xml file as you explained...
However that created another problem, now Tomcat fails to start smartEditor -
Caused by: java.io.FileNotFoundException: class path resource [de/conterra/smarteditor/admin/pojo/Locking.SqlServer.hbm.xml] cannot be opened because it does not exist...
I tried to search Locking.SqlServer.hbm.xml among files provided by smarteditor-gpt-webapp-2.0.2.war but I failed to find it...

Sincerely,
Irmantas

As I understand Locking.SqlServer.hbm.xml is stored somewhere in the library and accessed via Web? No?
why is it unavailable in that case?

Re: org.hibernate.MappingException: Dialect does not support sequences

Kristian Senkler
Hi Irmantas,

the hbm file is located in the smarteditor api library, i.e. $SMARTEDITOR_HOME/WEB-INF/lib/ smarteditor-api-2.0.2.jar.

Regards,
Kristian

Thanks, It helped, it seems there is a typo in the dao-definitions.xml file.
The name of the hbm file is Locking_SqlServer.hbm.xml
(and NOT Locking.SqlServer.hbm.xml, as it was written...)

Sincerely,
Irmantas

Ok, thanks for the typo hint, I haven't seen it. Will be fixed in next version.
